Eggs in rice pudding and herring in herring

Our friends Dan and Linda had a Super Bowl party, and we brought rice pudding and pickled herring (an odd combination, I know) to the festivities.  That was in addition to Kevin’s chicken pate, a butter, cognac, and liver concoction that is always very popular.
